Skilled Trades & Manufacturing
Supporting the people who build West Michigan.
This group is honored each June. The $56 New Patient Special is available to new patients year-round — see who's featured this month.
West Michigan runs on shop floors and job sites. From office furniture and auto supply plants around Zeeland and Holland to the machine shops of Kalamazoo County and the foundries near Muskegon, this is a region built by hands.
Overhead work, repetitive lifting, standing on concrete for ten-hour shifts, and vibration from tools all leave a mark. Most tradespeople we treat waited years — not because it didn't hurt, but because stopping wasn't an option.
June is for the trades. Come in before it becomes the thing that takes you off the line.

What the work does
Why this job shows up in your spine.
Every profession loads the body a specific way. Here's what we see most in this group.
Overhead work
Arms above the head compress the shoulder and load the neck — the top cause of rotator cuff pain in trades.
Concrete all shift
Ten hours of standing shortens hip flexors, flattens the arches, and irritates the low back.
Tool vibration
Grinders, impacts, and torches send repeated stress into the wrist, elbow, and forearm.
Conditions we treat
What we most often help with in this group.
Shoulder Pain & Rotator Cuff
The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body, which means it depends on muscle control rather than bone structure for stability. When the rotator cuff or the shoulder blade stops doing its job, tendons get pinched under the bone above them — and reaching overhead becomes a project.

Low Back Pain
Low back pain is the single most common reason people walk into our clinics, and it's also the most commonly mistreated. Rest and ibuprofen quiet the symptom for a few days, but if a joint isn't moving or a disc is loaded unevenly, the pain keeps coming back.

Tennis Elbow
Most people with tennis elbow have never played tennis. It's a tendon problem at the outside of the elbow, driven by gripping and wrist extension — which describes almost every trade, hobby and desk job in West Michigan.

Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is the classic stabbing heel pain that greets you the moment your foot hits the floor in the morning. It's stubborn because the tissue gets loaded every single step — which is exactly why shockwave therapy has become the standout treatment for chronic cases.

Questions
Trades & manufacturing: common questions
I work second shift. Can I still get in?
Yes — our clinics open as early as 7AM. Note your shift on the form and we'll work around it.
This started as a work injury. Does that change anything?
Tell us on the form. Work-related injuries may be handled differently, and we'll explain your options before anything is scheduled.
Who qualifies?
Anyone who is part of the community group we're currently featuring. Each month recognizes a different profession or role. Both new patients and existing Back To Health patients from that group are welcome to participate.
What does the visit cost?
New patients in the honored group get our $56 New Patient Special — consultation and exam, digital X-rays if clinically needed, and your report of findings. That's it. No deposit, no hidden fees, and nothing due before you arrive.
Is there a deposit?
No. There is no deposit and no prepayment. You pay $56 at the clinic on the day of your visit.
Can I nominate someone?
Yes — and we love when people do. Use the Nominate Someone form to tell us about a coworker, friend, or family member who deserves to be recognized. We'll reach out gently and let them decide if it's right for them.
Can I nominate myself?
Absolutely. If you're part of the group we're currently honoring, just complete the reservation form.
How do I reserve a spot?
Complete the short reservation form and choose the clinic closest to you. You'll be sent straight to that clinic's online scheduling page to pick your time, and our team will confirm.
