Pediatric & family care
Pediatric chiropractic care in West Michigan
Newborns through teenagers, at all three Back To Health clinics. Gentle, exam-first care — and an honest answer when your child belongs with your pediatrician instead of with us.
Kids aren't small adults, and we don't treat them like it
The single biggest question parents ask is how much force is involved. For an infant it's a fingertip — roughly the pressure you'd use to test a ripe tomato — held against a joint until tension releases. For older kids it's light and quick, and we explain every step before it happens. Parents stay in the room, always.
Every child starts with an exam, not a plan. We look at how the spine, hips and shoulders move, screen for asymmetry, and talk through pregnancy, birth, milestones, sleep and any falls. Then you get plain language about what we found — including when the honest answer is that this belongs with your pediatrician or a specialist.
Newborns & infants
Head-turning preference, latching on one side, arching, unsettled sleep, tummy time tolerance. Fingertip pressure only — no twisting, no popping.
Toddlers & preschool
Falls, milestone changes, gait and hip symmetry, recurring tension patterns as they start running, climbing and crashing into things.
School-age kids
Backpack loading, desk and tablet posture, scoliosis screening, growing pains, and the neck and shoulder tension that comes with screens.
Teens & student athletes
Sport-specific strain, recovery between seasons, headaches, and posture that's becoming a habit before it becomes a problem.

FAQ
Parent questions, answered honestly
Including the ones parents feel awkward asking out loud.
Is chiropractic safe for babies and kids?
Pediatric care looks nothing like adult care. For an infant, the amount of pressure used is about what you'd use to check a ripe tomato — often just a fingertip held against a joint. There's no twisting and no popping for babies. Every visit starts with an exam, and if something we find belongs with your pediatrician or a specialist instead, we refer.
At what age can a child be seen?
We see newborns through teenagers. Many parents bring a baby in during the first weeks, usually about latching, head-turning preference, or unsettled sleep. Older kids typically come in for posture, sports, backpack strain, or after a fall.
Why would a baby need to be checked?
Birth is a physical event, and how a baby is positioned in the womb and during delivery can leave tension patterns in the neck and upper back. Parents most often notice it as a strong preference for turning one direction, difficulty latching on one side, arching, or trouble settling. We check whether the joints and muscles move symmetrically and work on what doesn't.
What happens at a child's first visit?
We take a history — pregnancy, birth, milestones, sleep, digestion, injuries — then do an age-appropriate exam of how your child moves. You'll get a plain-language explanation of what we found and what we'd do about it before any care starts. Parents stay in the room the whole time.
Does it hurt? Will my child be scared?
Most kids think it's fun and ask to come back. Pediatric adjustments are light, quick, and done with the child sitting, lying, or in a parent's arms. Nothing happens without your child understanding what's next.
Do you treat colic, reflux, or ear infections?
We treat the musculoskeletal system — joint restriction and muscle tension. Parents of colicky or refluxing babies often report improvement once neck and upper-back tension eases, and that's how we frame it: we address the mechanics we can find and measure, and we do not promise to cure a medical condition. Anything that looks infectious or medical goes straight to your pediatrician.
What about scoliosis screening and posture?
Yes, and this is one of the most useful things we do for school-age kids. We screen for spinal curvature, uneven shoulders and hips, and the tech-neck posture that shows up early now. Early detection matters most during growth spurts.
What forms do I need to fill out?
Each clinic has its own pediatric intake form linked on this page. Filling it out before your visit means more of the appointment goes to your child instead of paperwork.
