Cost & payment
How much does a chiropractor cost?
No guessing, no bait pricing. Here's what a first visit includes, what our $56 new patient special covers, and how insurance and cash-pay work at our Zeeland, Portage and Muskegon clinics.
What your first visit actually includes
A first visit is longer and costs more than a routine adjustment because it's where the answers come from. We take your history, examine how your spine and joints move, take digital X-rays when they're clinically needed, and then sit down and tell you what we found — including whether chiropractic is the right answer for you at all.
You get a specific plan with a specific cost before care starts. If we don't think we can help, we say so and point you to who can. That conversation doesn't cost you a care plan.
Insurance, cash, and everything in between
We accept most major insurance plans. Chiropractic benefits vary a lot — some plans cover a generous number of visits, others cap them or apply the full cost to your deductible. Call the clinic nearest you with your card and our front desk will verify your benefits before you come in.
If you're uninsured, have a high deductible, or your plan simply doesn't cover chiropractic, cash-pay is straightforward: a flat per-visit rate and a total plan cost quoted up front. Auto accident and work injury care usually bills through that claim instead — see how injury claims work. For plan-specific questions, our insurance and payment FAQs go deeper.
What drives the price of a care plan
- How long the problem has been there — older problems generally need more visits.
- Whether imaging is clinically needed at your first visit.
- Whether your plan includes add-on care like shockwave therapy or spinal decompression.
- Your insurance benefits: copay, coinsurance, deductible, and visit limits.
- How consistently you can come in early on, which affects total visit count.

How much does a chiropractor cost in West Michigan?
It depends on whether you use insurance and what your visit includes. A first visit is the most expensive one because it covers the consultation, exam, and X-rays when they're clinically needed. New patients can start with our $56 new patient special, which bundles that workup. Follow-up adjustment visits cost considerably less, and you get the number in writing before care begins — no surprise billing.
What is included in the $56 new patient special?
A consultation with a doctor of chiropractic, a full spinal and posture exam, digital X-rays if they're clinically needed, and your report of findings and care plan. New patients only. Not valid with Medicare, Medicaid, or federal insurance plans. One per person.
Do you take insurance?
Most major plans, yes. Coverage for chiropractic varies widely by plan — visit limits, copays, and deductibles all differ. Call the clinic nearest you with your card handy and our front desk will verify your benefits before your first visit so you know what you owe.
Can I pay cash if I don't have insurance or my plan doesn't cover chiropractic?
Yes. Many of our patients are cash-pay by choice. We quote a flat per-visit rate and a total plan cost up front, so you can decide with real numbers instead of guessing.
Do you have payment plans?
For longer care plans we can spread payments across the plan rather than asking for it all at once. Ask the front desk at your report of findings — they'll lay out the options for your specific plan.
Is chiropractic cheaper than physical therapy, injections, or surgery?
For most mechanical spine and joint complaints, conservative care is the least expensive place to start and the guidelines say to try it first. If your case needs imaging beyond X-ray, injections, or a surgical opinion, we'll tell you and refer you rather than sell you a long plan you don't need.
Do you take Medicare or Medicaid?
We see Medicare patients, though Medicare covers a narrower set of chiropractic services than most commercial plans. The $56 new patient special is not valid with Medicare, Medicaid, or other federal plans — those visits are billed under your plan's rules instead.
What if I'm hurt from a car accident or at work?
Auto and work injuries usually run through the auto or workers' compensation claim rather than your health plan. Bring your claim number and we'll handle the documentation. See our personal injury page for how that process works.
