Golfer's Elbow Treatment in West Michigan

Inner elbow pain from gripping, lifting or swinging. We treat medial epicondylitis with soft tissue therapy, shockwave and progressive loading.

Golfer's elbow is tennis elbow's mirror image — same tendon problem, inside of the elbow instead of the outside. It shows up in golfers, but far more often in people who lift, carry and grip for a living.

Symptoms we hear about

  • Pain on the inner bump of the elbow
  • Worse gripping, lifting with the palm up, or swinging a club or racket
  • Tenderness spreading into the inner forearm
  • Weak grip, particularly with the wrist flexed
  • Occasional tingling into the ring and little fingers

What's usually driving it

The wrist flexor and pronator tendons attach at the inner elbow. Repetitive gripping and forearm rotation overload that attachment faster than it can repair. The ulnar nerve runs right behind that area, so a chronically irritated medial elbow sometimes produces nerve symptoms into the hand as well.

How we treat golfer's elbow

  1. 01Exam to separate tendon pain from ulnar nerve irritation — they need different care
  2. 02Soft tissue and instrument-assisted release of the flexor-pronator group
  3. 03SoftWave shockwave therapy for chronic, stalled tendon cases
  4. 04Elbow, wrist and cervical adjusting where restrictions are contributing
  5. 05Eccentric wrist flexor loading and grip retraining, plus technique or tool changes

FAQ

Golfer's Elbow: common questions

Is this different from tennis elbow?

Same mechanism, opposite side of the elbow. Golfer's elbow involves the flexor tendons on the inside; tennis elbow involves the extensors on the outside.

Why do my fingers tingle?

The ulnar nerve travels behind the inner elbow. Swelling and tightness there can irritate it, producing tingling in the ring and little fingers. We test for that specifically.

Can I keep golfing or lifting?

Usually yes, with modified load and volume. We'd rather adjust your dosage than shut you down completely.

Do I need a referral to be seen?

No. You can book directly with any of our three clinics in Zeeland, Portage or Norton Shores (Muskegon). If we think you need imaging or another provider, we'll tell you and help coordinate it.

Do you take insurance?

We're in-network with most major plans and we verify your benefits before your first adjustment so there are no surprises. Cash and payment-plan options are available too — see our insurance and payment FAQs.

How soon can I get in?

Most new patients are seen within a few days, not weeks. Book online for the clinic closest to you or call and we'll find the first available exam slot.
