Conditions we treat

Chronic Pain Care in Zeeland, Portage & Muskegon

Pain lasting months or years behaves differently than fresh injury. Our West Michigan clinics build realistic, function-first plans for chronic pain.

When pain lasts longer than three months, the nervous system itself changes — it becomes more efficient at producing pain with less provocation. That's why chronic pain needs a different plan than a fresh injury, and why "just push through it" and "just rest" both fail.

Symptoms we hear about

  • Pain that has persisted for months or years, with better and worse stretches
  • Flare-ups triggered by small things — a night of bad sleep, stress, weather
  • Pain spreading beyond where it started
  • Fatigue, poor sleep and reduced tolerance for activity
  • A long history of treatments that helped briefly, then stopped

What's usually driving it

Usually there's still a mechanical driver — a segment that doesn't move, a tendon that never healed. On top of that, months of guarding produce deconditioning, and the nervous system's pain threshold drops. Effective care addresses both: fix the mechanics and steadily rebuild capacity so the system stops interpreting normal load as danger.

How we treat chronic pain

  1. 01A thorough history and exam to find the mechanical drivers that are still active
  2. 02Specific adjustments to restore motion in the segments that quit moving
  3. 03Decompression or shockwave therapy where discs or chronic tendon problems are involved
  4. 04Graded activity progression built around your current tolerance, not an ideal one
  5. 05Sleep, stress and flare-management strategies, plus honest expectations about the timeline

01

Exam & history

A real evaluation — orthopedic, neurological and movement testing — so we know exactly what's generating your symptoms.

02

Report of findings

We tell you what we found, whether we can help, how long it should take, and what it costs. No open-ended plans.

03

Treat & rebuild

Adjustments plus the therapies your case actually needs, followed by the rehab that keeps it from coming back.

FAQ

Chronic Pain: common questions

I've tried everything. Why would this be different?

Most chronic pain patients have had treatments applied without a working diagnosis. We start with a real exam and give you a clear answer about whether we can help — including when we can't.

How long will care take?

Longer than an acute problem. We set a defined trial period with objective markers so you can judge progress rather than guess.

Will I be on a permanent treatment plan?

Some chronic conditions do better with periodic maintenance. That's a choice we make together based on how you respond, not a policy.

Do I need a referral to be seen?

No. You can book directly with any of our three clinics in Zeeland, Portage or Norton Shores (Muskegon). If we think you need imaging or another provider, we'll tell you and help coordinate it.

Do you take insurance?

We're in-network with most major plans and we verify your benefits before your first adjustment so there are no surprises. Cash and payment-plan options are available too — see our insurance and payment FAQs.

How soon can I get in?

Most new patients are seen within a few days, not weeks. Book online for the clinic closest to you or call and we'll find the first available exam slot.
