Conditions we treat

Sports Injury Treatment in Zeeland, Portage & Muskegon

From high school athletes to weekend warriors, we diagnose and treat sports injuries and get West Michigan athletes back to competing.

Athletes don't want to be told to rest — they want a diagnosis, a plan, and a return-to-play timeline. We treat the injury, address why it happened, and keep you training in whatever capacity is safe while it heals.

Symptoms we hear about

  • Pain during a specific sport-related movement — cutting, throwing, sprinting, jumping
  • Swelling or stiffness the morning after competition
  • Loss of speed, power or confidence in one direction
  • Recurring injury to the same area
  • Pain that shows up at a predictable point in every practice

What's usually driving it

Most non-contact sports injuries are capacity problems: training volume outran tissue tolerance, or a mobility restriction forced another tissue to work outside its range. Old injuries that were never fully rehabbed are the strongest predictor of new ones, because the movement pattern that developed around them never got corrected.

How we treat sports injuries

  1. 01Sport-specific movement assessment and injury diagnosis
  2. 02Extremity and spinal adjusting to restore the mobility the movement requires
  3. 03Soft tissue therapy, cupping and instrument-assisted work for injured tissue
  4. 04SoftWave shockwave therapy for chronic tendon injuries that are limiting a season
  5. 05Return-to-play progression with clear criteria, plus load management going forward

FAQ

Sports Injuries: common questions

Do I have to stop playing?

Sometimes, but often we can modify volume and specific movements instead of shutting you down. We'd rather manage the load than lose your season.

Do you work with high school and college athletes?

Constantly. We coordinate with athletic trainers and coaches when it helps, and we're candid about when an athlete shouldn't be competing.

Can chiropractic improve performance, not just injury?

Restoring joint mobility and correcting asymmetries lets athletes produce force more efficiently. Many of our athletes come in for maintenance during the season for exactly that reason.

Do I need a referral to be seen?

No. You can book directly with any of our three clinics in Zeeland, Portage or Norton Shores (Muskegon). If we think you need imaging or another provider, we'll tell you and help coordinate it.

Do you take insurance?

We're in-network with most major plans and we verify your benefits before your first adjustment so there are no surprises. Cash and payment-plan options are available too — see our insurance and payment FAQs.

How soon can I get in?

Most new patients are seen within a few days, not weeks. Book online for the clinic closest to you or call and we'll find the first available exam slot.
