Ankle & Foot Pain Treatment in West Michigan

Old ankle sprains, arch pain and stiff feet change how your whole body loads. We adjust and rehab the foot and ankle at all three clinics.

Your feet contain a quarter of the bones in your body, and they're the foundation everything above them stands on. A stiff ankle or a foot that never fully recovered from a sprain years ago shows up later as knee, hip and back pain.

Symptoms we hear about

  • Aching or stiffness in the ankle, especially first thing in the morning
  • Repeated ankle rolls or a chronic sense of instability
  • Pain along the arch, outer foot or top of the foot
  • Reduced ability to squat or lunge without the heel lifting
  • Foot fatigue after a day on hard floors

What's usually driving it

After an ankle sprain, ligaments heal but the joint's motion and its position sense often don't fully return — especially if it was never rehabbed. The ankle loses the dorsiflexion needed for normal walking, so the foot compensates by rolling in and the knee and hip absorb the rest. Multiply that over thousands of steps a day.

How we treat ankle & foot pain

  1. 01Foot and ankle joint-by-joint mobility assessment plus balance testing
  2. 02Ankle, midfoot and toe joint adjusting to restore motion
  3. 03Soft tissue and instrument-assisted work for the calf, arch and peroneals
  4. 04Balance and proprioception retraining — the piece most sprains never got
  5. 05Footwear and orthotic guidance based on how your foot actually loads

FAQ

Ankle & Foot Pain: common questions

My sprain was years ago. Is it too late?

No. Restoring motion and retraining balance in an old ankle usually pays off quickly, and it often relieves knee or hip pain that seemed unrelated.

Do I need custom orthotics?

Sometimes. We'd rather first restore what your foot can do on its own, then use orthotics if there's a structural need rather than by default.

Do you adjust feet?

Yes — the ankle, midfoot and toe joints all respond to specific adjusting, and it's a routine part of our care.

Do I need a referral to be seen?

No. You can book directly with any of our three clinics in Zeeland, Portage or Norton Shores (Muskegon). If we think you need imaging or another provider, we'll tell you and help coordinate it.

Do you take insurance?

We're in-network with most major plans and we verify your benefits before your first adjustment so there are no surprises. Cash and payment-plan options are available too — see our insurance and payment FAQs.

How soon can I get in?

Most new patients are seen within a few days, not weeks. Book online for the clinic closest to you or call and we'll find the first available exam slot.
